Year 6 had such a fantastic time on their trip to see the London Landmarks. They travelled to London by train and were thrilled to see up close and in person the London Eye, Houses of Parliament, Horse Guards Parade, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and many other significant sights. They followed a route around London based on the book 'The London Eye Mystery' by Siobhan Down which they have been reading in class.

Each pupil enjoyed seeing the different landmarks and marking these off on their 'I Spy in London Checklist'. It was an incredible experience for them!

  • Buster's Book Club Winners

    Fri 17 Jun 2022

This week, we were visited by Author Laura Bingham and special guests Buster and Wander. Pupils in Year 3 and Year 5 attended a special assembly where Laura told them all about her inspiration for her books and heard the story 'Mountain of Dreams' read by Laura.

Class 4M were privileged to attend a workshop with Laura who is an explorer and adventurer best known for leading the worlds first descent of the Essequibo River in Guyana, South America.

Laura spent time with Class 4M as they accumulated the most reading minutes for the year as part of Buster's Book Club. They learned how to write their own adventure stories and had a chance to ask Laura questions about what inspired her to write her book 'Lands of Courage'.

  • African Workshop

    Thu 16 Jun 2022

Our Year 5 pupils took part in African Drumming and Dancing workshops this week as part of their current topic on Africa.

The day started with an assembly for our Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils where they listened to Steven, the workshop facilitator, sing and play a traditional African song using a djembe drum.

In class groups, year 5 learnt about African culture, how beating on different parts of the djembe drum produces a different sound and also some African dance moves.

After these workshops, the year 5 pupils performed to Year 3 and 4. They were spectacular!

'The workshops were really fun. Steven was very entertaining and positive. His drumming skills were amazing and he kept our enthusiasm going.' Callum 5Q

  • Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

    Thu 26 May 2022

Pupils took part in a number of events to celebrate the 70 year reign of Queen Elizabeth II who became Queen of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in 1952.

The day started with an exciting Queen's Jubilee Treasure Hunt with pupils searching our huge school playing fields for different questions relating to the Queen and the Royal Family. It was lovely to see the children working together to find the questions and then discuss the answers.

This was followed by a super 'Street Party' outside on our playground where all pupils enjoyed a variety of sandwiches, crudities and cookies. A huge thank you to our Kitchen Team and Midday Supervisors for providing a wonderful lunch experience. We were so lucky with the weather too!

Finally, the children were able to show their FABulous home made Royal Crowns during the street party. There were so many amazing, colourful and creative entries.
