  • YOUNG VOICES

    Thu 31 Jan 2019

On Wednesday, Normandy Choir attended the annual Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena, Greenwich. This is always such a wonderful evening and for some of the choir, the first time that they have been inside such a large venue and taken part in such a huge event. Normandy Choir were joined by a number of different schools who all took part in a number of different musical numbers performed by well known artists. The parents who bought tickets and attended the event had a fantastic time watching the concert and seeing their children perform with all of the different schools. This even really is amazing!

Thank you to all of the children for their impeccable behaviour on the day and for representing their school so beautifully. Also, thank you to Mrs Lowe, Miss Williams and all of the accompanying teachers who helped the children to learn the songs and got involved in making the event such a memorable one.

If your child would like to join the choir and come along to next years event, please see Mrs Lowe or Miss Williams. CHoir meets up every Monday lunchtime and take part in events such as Young Voices, Summer Concert, Demelzathon and more.

  • Computer Club

    Fri 18 Jan 2019
Two Year 6 pupils, Michael and Samuel, have set up a weekly lunchtime computer club for pupils in KS2 who win either a Gold Award or Writing Award. The club runs every Wednesday lunchtime from 12.45pm - 1.15pm in the ICT suite with pupils taking part in different activities each week. These activities include Purple Mash, Scratch, Lightbox and Times Tables Rockstars. These sessions have proved very popular with the winners and I am very proud of Michael and Samuel's willingness to get the club up and running. Well done!
  • Times Tables Rockstars

    Fri 18 Jan 2019

Pupils at Normandy are enjoying taking part in carefully sequenced programmes of daily times tables practice. Each week the pupils concentrate on different times tables and take part in challenges, giving themselves a 'Rockstar' user name and trying to be the fastest speed at getting all times tables questions correct and earning the most points. The top leading 'Rockstars' are entered into the Hall of Fame and win the accolade of being the fastest 'Rockstar' in school or the highest earner.

You can help your child by ensuring that they practices their times tables on Times Tables Rockstars. There is an app that they can access or children can use the internet to improve their time. Miss Martin has made a display board near the school office where she will display the names of children with the fastest speed and the most points.

Children - do you think you could make Normandy's leader board on the Hall of Fame? Keep rocking!

  • Year 5 'Digital Schoolhouse Workshop' at Townley

    Wed 16 Jan 2019
Our Year 5 pupils attending a 'Digital Schoolhouse Workshop' at Townley Grammar School. This was a fantastic and successful workshop and we are really pleased that the Year 5 pupils had the opportunity to experience this for themselves. They had a lot of fun learning a new mind reading card trick, dancing with algorithms and coding on Scratch. The pupils were enthusiastic the whole day and exceptionally well behaved, representing Normandy in a fantastic manner. They returned to school buzzing with excitement from what they had learnt.
