• Skipping Workshops

  This week, we welcomed back Lee Collinson from Skip Hop to deliver skipping workshops to the whole school. Lee taught the children a variety of skipping moves during the workshops including individual skipping skills, partner skipping skills, double dutch skipping and long rope games all of which are suitable for and tailored for reception through to year 6. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed their session.

• Bexley Selection Tests - Current Year 5 Pupils

  If your child was born between 1 September 2010 and 31 August 2011 and is currently in Year 5 and transferring to secondary school in September 2022, NOW is the time to register for the Bexley Selection Test.

   

  The online registration will be open from Tuesday 4th May 2021 to midnight on Friday 2nd July 2021.

   

  Late applications will not be considered and your child will not be able to sit the test.

• Walk to School Winners

  Fri 14 May 2021

  Congratulations to Class 3J who have won a fantastic prize for being the best class for walking/ scooting or cycling to school on Wednesday 5th May out of all the many schools across Kent that take part - WELL DONE!

   

  Their prize is a mini-caterpillar shaped greenhouse with seeds as well as a gardening book. 

  

• Year 6 Secondary Transition Virtual Workshop

  Our year 6 pupils took part in a virtual workshop relating to their transition to secondary school. 

   

  Through music, imagery, poetry and storytelling, this production challenged the audience to look at the choices they make. Afterwards, year 6 took part in an audience debate via zoom on several issues including mental health, friendships and family relationships, personal safety, peer pressure and the dangers of smoking and alcohol use.

   

  The children really enjoyed the play and feedback session and I am sure that you will agree that these issues are vital for the development of our year 6 pupils and will help them to be safe as they go forward in their educational journey.

• Dinosaur Visit

  We were very lucky to have a visit from Sophie (a seven year old Tyrannosaurus) and her younger friend Mia, a baby Triceratops. 

   

  The children in Reception to Year 6 went out onto the playground and greeted Sophie and Mia and also learnt more about their favourite things to eat and how they live.

   

  It was lovely to hear how much knowledge the year 1 children had learnt during the morning when Jonathon and James from Education Group, questioned the audience and so many of the year 1 children were able to answer their questions.

   

  It was a really fun sessions and even more lovely to be out in the sunshine to do our learning.

  

• Year 1 Dinosaur Workshop

  Our Year 1 pupils took part in a Dinosaur Workshop in school this week. During the session, they learnt about different types of dinosaurs and had the opportunity to become real life palaeontologists.

   

  The children were put into groups and searched the sand filled display boxes using the brushes provided to see which dinosaur bones they could find. They then had to investigate which dinosaur species the bone belonged to.

   

  They had such a fantastic time and this workshop really helped them to further understand their topic on dinosaurs. Well done Year 1 classes!
