• Hobgoblin Theatre - Treasure Island

  We invited the Hobgoblin Theatre Company into school to perform a theatre version of the famous story 'Treasure Island' by Robert Louis Stevenson to all of the children in Normandy Primary School. Pupils in Reception and KS1 classes watched the show first and were joyously engaged in the production, calling out when the performers required them to and mimicking movements and sounds. Pupils in KS2 were equally engaged by the fantastic acting and singing when they watched the performance later on in the morning. This was booked to inspire the children's imaginations and creative writing.

  

• Year 6 Junior Citizen

  Our Year 6 pupils took part in the Junior Citizen event, run by the Metropolitan Police and Bexley Council. The children travelled to Erith Fire Station by bus and enjoyed taking part in lots of different activities related to topics like road safety, first aid, fire safety, wellbeing, behaviour on public transport etc. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children and they have learnt some useful and helpful life skills.

  

• Year 2 SATs

  Children in Year 2 have been working really hard taking their SATs this month. They took their SATs in small groups so that there was very little pressure on them and to make it feel like a normal classroom activity rather than an assessment. Children were provided with fresh fruit, biscuits and juice to help them through.

• 2019 Green Travel Mark - Gold Level Award

  Normandy were awarded the 2019 Green Travel Mark - Gold Level Award for the fantastic effort the pupils make walking to school on Wednesdays. Pupils are encouraged to walk to school on Wednesdays to reduce the pollution by not using a car and also is good for their health both physically and mentally.

  

• Year 6 SATs

  Year 6 pupils took their SATs test this week. As a thank you for all their hard work and dedication over the last few weeks, pupils in Year 6 were invited to come along for breakfast at school. Breakfast consisted of cereal, toast and jam, fruit and fruit juice. Pupils were also invited along to our Wake Up Club where they took part in fun activities and games.

• Year 2 - Cross Borough Football Festival

  This week, ten of our Year 2 pupils were invited to Dartford FC to take part in a Cross Borough Football Festival. Team Normandy played 6 games during the festival and despite the rainy conditions, the children battled on through and took great pleasure in playing for their school. They successfully won 4 games, and drew 1 game and lost 1 game. Well done to all of the children involved.
