  • Odd Socks Day

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

We invited all pupils to come into school wearing odd socks this week to raise money for Children's Cancer Research UK. Our School Council chose this charity as they do so much for children who are unwell and are well deserving of support.

Thank you to all of those who took part and for raising money for such a wonderful charity.

  • Great Fire of London Workshop - Year 2 pupils

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

Our Year 2 classes enjoyed a visit from Freshwater Theatre who delivered a fantastic workshop based on the 'Great Fire of London'. During the workshop, the children time travelled back to 1666 and re-enacted the story of how the fire started and what they did to try to stop London from burning down. The children really enjoyed the workshop and this has developed their understanding of this topic.

  • Remembrance Day Assemblies

    Thu 11 Nov 2021

We held special assemblies this week to commemorate Remembrance Day, also known as Armistice Day, which is held on 11th of November every year.

We discussed why this day is so important and the different ways that people remember the fallen soldiers who served during the war and those that serve now. We also explained the meaning of the different colour poppies, for example, the Red poppy which is used to commemorate those who sacrificed their lives in World War One and conflicts that followed, the Purple poppy which is often worn to remember animals that have been victims of war, the Black poppy which recognises the African and Caribbean communities contribution to the war effort and the White poppy which is worn by people who feel that the Red poppy glorifies war and conflict and feel that a White poppy promotes peace.

We observed a two minutes silence as a mark of respect to those who have served and are currently serving members of the forces. We had a huge response to our sale of poppies which goes to the Royal British Legion and when we have a final sale figure, we will let you know. Thank you as always for your continued support.
