Harvest Festival Assembly
Thu 17 Oct 2019Harvest Festival Assembly took place on Thursday this week with parents and carers of our Year 4 parents in attendance. The children spoke about how food is grown on farms and how healthy food benefits everyone. Thank you to all who donated tinned foods and non perishables which have been passed on to our local Bexley Food Bank, in Erith. We support many different charities over the year and are pleased to be able to donate and help where we can. -
Parents Evenings
Mon 14 Oct 2019Parents Evenings took place on Monday and Tuesday after school. It was wonderful to see so many parents/ carers in attendance with their child's class teacher discussing their child's progress. Thank you to all of you who attended. It is so important for our teachers to be able to share your child's fantastic learning with you and continue to build home/ school communications.
During parents evening, Independent Catering, our school catering team, were serving up some delicious samples of some of the food on offer to pupils at Normandy Primary. The majority of children at Normandy enjoy a delicious, healthy meal at school with many of those who regularly have packed lunch changing to school meals during the course of the school year. If your child feels that they may wish to change their lunch option they are more than welcome to.
School meals are charged at £2.30 per day, £11.50 per week, payable in advance via Sims Pay.

National Poetry Day
Thu 03 Oct 2019We celebrated National Poetry Day's 25th anniversary on Thursday this week with children taking part in various fun-filled activities based around poetry. Children and teachers shared their favourite poems during special assemblies. They also enjoyed listening to and studying and performing poems written by some of their favourite authors. Lots of children wrote their own poems using different features they had been learning about in the week. I was particularly impressed watching some incredible teaching and learning in Years 5, where they were comparing a range of poems of differing styles and themes. Please ask your child all about the poets they have learnt about. It was such a joy to see so many children so excited about poetry this week! -

School Council Elections
Tue 01 Oct 2019This week pupils voted for who they would like to see represent them as part of our School Council. Voting took place with real booths and a ballot box. Children listened to candidate's manifestos before deciding who they wanted to represent their class. Being a member of the School Council is a fantastic opportunity for the elected pupils to have their school and contribute to the development and growth of the pupils and school.
