  • Year 5 'Digital Schoolhouse Workshop' at Townley

    Wed 21 Nov 2018

Some of our Year 5 pupils attended a 'Digital Schoolhouse Workshop' at Townley Grammar School on Wednesday 21st November. They had a lot of fun learning a new mind reading card trick, dancing with algorithms and then coding on Scratch in the afternoon. They were enthusiastic the whole day and exceptionally well behaved. They all returned to school with a lot more knowledge and wanting to share this with the other children and adults.

Bailey said "I liked Townley Grammar because we did card tricks and dance moves".

Audrina commented "My trip to Townley Grammar was extraordinary because I learnt so much and all of the staff were so nice and lovely".

Sharona reported, "I was nervous on the way there but learnt what to do really quickly and I really enjoyed it. I want to do it again!"

Well done to all of the girls who took part. If you are interested in your child joining a rugby team (aged 5 and upwards), then take a look at the Dartfordians Rugby Club website.

  • Anti-Bullying Week

    Mon 12 Nov 2018
This week we focussed on the national Anti-Bullying Week theme 'Choose Respect'. Pupils took part in an assembly and various activities where they learnt the definition of respect and that bullying is a behaviour choice. The teachers emphasised that although we do not have to be best friends with someone or always agree with each other, we should always respect each other. The week culminated in an 'Odd-Socks' day on Friday with all donations going to the Anti-Bullying Alliance. We raised a fantastic £150.82. THANK YOU for your generosity.

  • 'We are Thankful' Assembly (Remembrance)

    Thu 08 Nov 2018
Year 5 led a school assembly to celebrate one of our school values 'We are thankful' to tie in with Remembrance Day. Parents were invited along to watch their children present the history of WWI and hear stories about real people who fought in the wars. They sang war time songs and were confident and knowledgeable. It was particularly moving when children sang 'We will remember them' and photos of children's relatives who had fought in the war were shown on the power point.

    Fri 02 Nov 2018
We held another successful Open Day for parents/ carers/ grandparents etc this week. It was wonderful to see so many of you there and hearing the lovely comments about the school and the teaching and learning across the different key stages. Their confidence is really growing and they are a fantastic ambassador for Normandy Primary.
  • Praise for Normandy Children

    Fri 02 Nov 2018
It is always delightful to hear praise for our wonderful children here at Normandy School. Just before half-term, a lady phoned to report that she was riding down a narrow pathway on her mobility scooter when approximately 30 children in red uniform passed her. She said she was moved to tears, having had a difficult day, when every single one of them moved aside for her so that she could pass by. She aslo said what impeccable manners they had and how polite they were. She said they were a credit to the school. WELL DONE NORMANDY CHILDREN!
